Advent ceases trading

Advent Computer Training has ceased trading. The company has sent letters to students informing them that they are unable to complete their training and that the company is making arrangements for an insolvency practitioner to be appointed.

Although the company conducted training for the corporate sector, much of their business came from individuals who funded their own training in order to obtain a vendor qualification to be able to find a job in IT. Many would now be saddled with having to repay bank loans even though the company cannot fulfil its obligations.

Students have been calling the Institute of Training enquiring how that leaves them regarding their qualifications."Unfortunately, I am afraid that these individuals are now burdened with huge loans and no qualification," explained Colin Steed, chief executive of the Institute.

"Advent were a good company providing quality training," continued Steed. "It's a sad consequence of the recession, but I know that is no comfort for everyone who are now left with huge debts."
